Q: How long does an estate administration or trust administration take?

A: The length of time it takes to administer an estate or a trust depends on many factors, including but not limited to the complexity of the estate or trust, the nature of the assets contained therein, whether there are significant creditor or beneficiary issues or disputes, and whether there are state or federal income tax, Indiana inheritance tax or federal estate tax returns due.   That being said either an estate administration or a trust administration may take anywhere from three months to a year or more to be properly administered and completed.
