Frequently Asked Questions by our clients in Indiana

Q:

Is a traffic accident that involves a large truck more likely to cause serious injuries or death than motor vehicle accidents involving other types of vehicles?

A:

Yes.   The average passenger vehicle weighs approximately 3,000 pounds and manufacturers are under great pressure to make them smaller.  A fully-loaded sem tractor-trailer combination can weigh 80,000 pounds or more.   This huge difference in weight alone makes it very likely that a collision between a large truck and a passenger vehicle will result in serious bodily injury or even death for those in the vehicle.  It is not unusual for a semi-driver to walk away from such collisions with minor injuries or no injuries at all.
